Ward 15 — Waterdown, Flamborough, Carlisle, millgrove

More than ever, experience matters at City Hall.

With critical infrastructure projects underway, investment in our community at an all time high, growth management issues on the horizon, and taxation fairness important to all of us, Ward 15 requires proven leadership that's ready on day one.

I'm seeking re-election in order to keep our issues at the forefront of City Council. I believe that decisions should be directed by evidence, supported by principle, and designed to achieve the greatest good. On October 26, let's keep experienced leadership working for Waterdown, Flamborough, Carlisle and Millgrove.

Get the Job Done.

Ted McMeekin has dedicated his life to public service. For more than four decades, Ted McMeekin has served the community as a Hamilton city councillor, as Mayor of the Town of Flamborough, as our MPP at Queen's Park, and since 2022 as our Ward 15 Councillor.

Ted ran on a simple but powerful mantra; decisions should be directed by evidence, supported by principle, and designed to achieve the greatest good. That is still how he works.

On October 26, let's keep that experience working for Waterdown, Flamborough. Millgrove and Carlisle.

Ted GetS the Job Done.

Ted's Vision for Ward 15

Tax Fairness

My goal at City Hall will be to fight for tax fairness, secure value for tax dollars, and generate increased investment in Ward 15. I will continue to fight for fair, predictable taxation, that respects the unique economic landscape of Ward 15.

Community Engagement

I believe in the power of residents' voices at City Hall. Through a Community Council of engaged citizens, deeply listening to residents' concerns while upholding a responsive communication approach, I will maintain an unwavering commitment to the values of both rural and suburban residents.

Meaningful Investment

Investing tax dollars wisely in community infrastructure that matters: police/fire station for improved response times; new and repaired roads commuters can count on; accessible recreational facilities for our youth and seniors to live healthy active lives.

Recreation

Investing in our recreation spaces is important for the community. The City's plan to construct a new Recreation Centre in Waterdown requires considerable resident-focused input. Further, I believe Memorial Park's splash pad and  playground need a major renovation for the benefit of our community and the families herein.

Safety

I am committed to enhancing rural road safety, traffic calming on our streets, modifying the City's Truck Route, supporting our First Responders, increasing police presence, and fighting car thefts, all in pursuit of enhancing safety in every Ward 15 neighborhood.

    Responsive Citizen Communicaiton

I am commited to responding to all emails, phone calls and messages from constituents. In the last term of Council, 95% of all calls and emails sent to me  received a response within 24.

Convened the city's only Community Council

Ted promised to make decisions about community investments and solutions together. A widely accessible cross-section of engaged citizens, including leaders from many of our social service organizations and non-profits, convenes to share their collective wisdom. Community Council has voted to support local priorities including intimate partner violence and food scarcity with over $450 000 in non-tax funding.

  • Group Volunteering Activity

    Supporting Neighbours in Need

Ted committed and followed through on supporting the citizen-led homeless initiave, HATS, as well as local food security funding, and advocated for sensible alternatives to the city staff led Tiffany-Barton sole-source fiasco. Ted has consistenly advocated for pragmatic housing policy to combat the city's 'Code Red' disparities and the impact of inadequate housing on health, education and income.
